UCL has opened their new Earth Science Department today and the occasion was celebrated with no other than Sir David Attenborough. He officially reopened the Kathleen Lonsdale building at Gower Place and accepted the honour of having a new species of plankton named after the BBC’s Blue Planet Series. In the discussion he revealed that he initially wanted to be a geologist but eventually ended up in broadcasting. Students and Staff enjoyed asking a wide range of questions of the renowned naturalist from visions of the future of the planet to questions on furthering a scientific career. And even the biscuits were ammonite shaped. #AttenboroughatUCL
